Dickson, L. E. The abstract group isomorphic with the symmetric group of \(k\) letters. (English) JFM 30.0141.03 Lond. M. S. Proc. 31, 351-353 (1899). Verf. giebt einen recht einfachen Beweis für den wichtigen, von Moore stammenden Satz (Lond. M. S. Proc. 28, 357-366; Referat F. d. M. 28, 121, 1897, JFM 28.0121.03): Die abstracte Gruppe \(G(k)\), welche durch die Elemente \(B_1\), \(B_2\), ..., \(B_{k-1}\), zwischen denen die Relationen: \[ \begin{aligned} B_1^2 &= B_2^2 = \cdots = B_{k-1}^2 = 1,\tag{1}\\ B_iB_j &= B_jB_i\,(i=1,2,\dots,k-3;j=i+2,i+3,\dots,k-1),\tag{2}\\ B_jB_{j+1}B_j &= B_{j+1}B_jB_{j+1}\,(j=1,2,\dots,k-2)\tag{3}\end{aligned} \] bestehen, definirt wird, ist mit der symmetrischen Substitutionsgruppe von \(k\) Buchstaben holoedrisch isomorph.
