Serre, Jean-Pierre; Atiyah, Michael A tribute to Henri Cartan. (English) Zbl 1195.01081 Notices Am. Math. Soc. 57, No. 8, 946-950 (2010). Summary: Henri Cartan was a towering figure in twentieth-century mathematics. The son of distinguished mathematician Élie Cartan, Henri Cartan charted his own course in several complex variables and complex geometry. He was also a great humanitarian and a powerful force in the lives of those around him. He lived to be well over one hundred years old–a long and impressive life. He will certainly be missed.
