A variant of happy sequences

Vol. 19 (2026), No. 4, 541–551
Abstract

Let a0,k ∈ ℕ with k ≥ 2. We study a certain sequence of positive integers (an) = (fa0,k(n)) = (g(n)) and demonstrate an interesting property of this sequence. For c0 ∈ ℕ, let (cn) = (gn(c0)), where gn = g ∘⋯ ∘ g is the composite function. In the particular case when k = 2, we show that there is an interesting duality between the sequences (an) and (cn).
