A maximum principle on Clifford torus and nonexistence of proper holomorphic map from the ball to polydisc

Abstract

A maximum principle which estimates the gradients on the clifford torus of plurisubharmonic functions defined in the polydisc is derived. With this result we give a new proof that there exists no proper holomorphic map from the ball to polydisc in C2.
