Aims and scope
Galileo publishes both research and research-expository work of the highest caliber in the mathematical sciences. An emphasis is placed on uncovering new phenomena and insights and conveying innovative ideas, while highlighting the discovery process. Articles will aim to transform areas and elevate the culture of research, exploration, and exposition in the mathematical sciences in the scientific and humanistic spirit of Galileo.
For research articles, the standards for research, discovery, and exposition are these:
- Is the research at the level of the very top journals?
- Is the discovery process that led to the results shared?
- Does the level of exposition match the level of findings? Does it emphasize the beauty and aesthetics of the topic?
For research-expository articles the standards for research, creativity, and exposition are these:
- Does the research present innovative ideas that have potential to transform fields?
- Is the creative process highlighted through detailed exploration, (counter)examples, or failed endeavors?
- Does the level of exposition match the level of innovation and exploration?
Galileo Prize
It is our intention to establish a prize of $5000 awarded regularly to a paper published in Galileo.
