Each short article will be accompanied by the appropriate source code. Authors may submit manuscripts in PDF format online at the submission page. JSAG is a Diamond OA journal (free to read, free to publish), first published in 2009 and first produced by MSP in 2014.

Originality

Submission of a manuscript acknowledges that the manuscript is original and is not, in whole or in part, published or under consideration for publication elsewhere. It is understood also that the manuscript will not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration for publication in this journal.

Language

Articles in JSAG are usually in English, but articles written in other languages are welcome.

Required items for source code

The source code should be well-documented and well-tested. An appropriate test suite has to be provided, being clear about requirements needed to run it. Normally, the code should follow the accepted style for its programming language. The source code must be free software in the sense of
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html
and must not depend on other software that is not free (aside from the operating system).

Required items for article

A brief abstract of about 150 words or less must be included. It should be self-contained and not make any reference to the bibliography. If the article is not in English, two versions of the abstract must be included, one in the language of the article and one in English. Also required are keywords and subject classifications for the article, and, for each author, postal address, affiliation (if appropriate), and email address if available. A homepage URL is optional.

Format for article

Submission requires uploading the paper in PDF. If your submission is accepted you will then need to supply source files, which may be in any variety of TeX or LaTeX, or in other software such as Word.

References

Bibliographical references should be complete, including article titles and page ranges. All references in the bibliography should be cited in the text. The use of BibTeX is preferred but not required. Tags will be converted to the journal format, however, for submission you may use the format of your choice. Links will be provided to all literature with known web locations and authors are encouraged to provide their own links in addition to those supplied in the editorial process.

Figures

Figures must be of publication quality. After acceptance, you will need to submit the original source files in vector graphics format for all diagrams in your manuscript: vector EPS or vector PDF files are the most useful. If you need help, please write to graphics@msp.org with as many details as you can about how your graphics were generated.

Proofs

Page proofs will be made available to authors (or to the designated corresponding author) at a Web site in PDF format. Failure to acknowledge the receipt of proofs or to return corrections within the requested deadline may cause publication to be postponed.

Peer Review

This journal operates a single-anonymized review process (the names of the reviewers are hidden from the author). All contributions will be initially assessed by an editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of one independent expert reviewer to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The editors are responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The editors’ decisions are final. Editors are not involved in decisions about papers which they have written themselves.
