Abstract

Theramechanics integrates mechanical principles and biological processes to offer
innovative solutions for bone remodeling and the treatment of musculoskeletal
diseases. This interdisciplinary approach builds upon continuum mechanics,
thermodynamics, and mechanobiology, focusing on how mechanical stimuli
drive cellular responses and influence biochemical interactions. By employing
patient-specific computational models, theramechanics may enable the prediction of
bone density evolution, the optimization of treatment protocols, and the
improvement of fracture healing outcomes. The framework also provides a robust
foundation for studying complex bone pathologies, such as osteoporosis and
osteoarthritis, and supports the design of bioresorbable scaffolds for bone
reconstruction. This paper explores the principles of theramechanics, highlights its
applications in modeling and treatment, and discusses its potential to revolutionize
personalized medicine for bone health.
