About submissions dealing with
important open problems
Any paper providing a proof of a famous conjecture, the solution of a famous problem in number theory or a reproof of Fermat’s Last Theorem must be accompanied by a letter signed by a person who
- is not one of the authors, and
- is on the mathematics faculty of a research university.
The letter must be printed on the letterhead of that university and state that the signer has read the paper and certifies that it is correct.
