CPAM: Courant Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics

The Courant Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics (CPAM) joins MSP

We are ex­cited to an­nounce that the Cour­ant Journ­al of Pure and Ap­plied Math­em­at­ics (CPAM), the new flag­ship journ­al of the Cour­ant In­sti­tute, will join the MSP roster in 2027.

An es­sen­tial title for math­em­at­ics lib­rary col­lec­tions, CPAM takes the place of Com­mu­nic­a­tions on Pure and Ap­plied Math­em­at­ics, which will cease pub­lic­a­tion after 2026.

The Cour­ant Journ­al of Pure and Ap­plied Math­em­at­ics will re­tain the same stel­lar ed­it­or­i­al board and stand­ards for ac­cept­ance as its pre­de­cessor. Owned solely by the Cour­ant In­sti­tute, it will be pub­lished and dis­trib­uted by MSP.

As a not-for-profit, schol­ar-led or­gan­iz­a­tion, we at MSP are proud to have a long tra­di­tion of work­ing col­lab­or­at­ively along­side our ed­it­or­i­al boards for the be­ne­fit of our pub­lic­a­tions and their read­er­ship. Since our found­ing in 2004, MSP has shep­her­ded more than a dozen journ­als in­to suc­cess and sta­bil­ity. This in­cludes the five journ­als that we are cur­rently con­vert­ing to open ac­cess through our Sub­scribe to Open pro­gram -- not to men­tion the sixth, the An­nals of K-The­ory, which will join the pro­gram in 2027.

We at MSP are thrilled to have the op­por­tun­ity to work with the Cour­ant Journ­al of Pure and Ap­plied Math­em­at­ics and its ed­it­ors in ser­vice of the schol­arly com­munity.

A new, in­de­pend­ently owned flag­ship journ­al for the Cour­ant In­sti­tute is huge step for­ward — but it's also a big change. For it to suc­ceed, it's im­per­at­ive that lib­rar­ies, ad­min­is­trat­ors, and the math com­munity at large hear about it. Please help spread the word by shar­ing a link to this an­nounce­ment and shar­ing your en­thu­si­asm for the journ­al and in­de­pend­ent schol­arly pub­lish­ing.

Practical details

CPAM will be­gin ac­cept­ing sub­mis­sions in 2026, with a planned ini­tial pub­lish­ing date of early 2027.
